Secretary General Comrade Hanna Gharib Meets Cuban President, Miguel Diaz-Canel

Hanna Gharib, Secretary-General of the Lebanese Communist Party, met with Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel at the Palace of the Revolution. President Díaz-Canel welcomed Gharib's visit as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between both parties. He highlighted the longstanding relations between the two parties, rooted in shared commitment and support for just causes, as well as the commitment to the Palestinian cause.

During the cordial meeting, President Díaz-Canel appreciated the Lebanese Communist Party's unwavering support against the American blockade on Cuba. He assured Gharib of Cuba's participation in the International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties to be held in Beirut in October 2024. Díaz-Canel affirmed Cuba's readiness to assist in organizing the meeting.

Gharib expressed his honor to meet President Díaz-Canel, emphasizing the significance of the meeting to consolidate and strengthen relations between their peoples and parties. He reiterated the Lebanese Communist Party's solidarity with Cuba against the unjust blockade, advocating for its removal from the list of state sponsors of terrorism. Gharib also criticized the United States, labeling it’s government as the world's foremost terrorist.

Gharib underscored the mutual support between their parties, citing Cuba's historical solidarity with liberation movements worldwide. He added that solidarity with the island is a historical, national, and international duty. He commended Cuba's firm stance and support for the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples in confronting the genocidal war waged by the Zionist entity
supported by the American-Atlantic war machine.

The meeting was attended by members of the Political Bureau of the Cuban Communist Party, the organization official, Comrade Roberto Morales, and the foreign relations official, Comrade Emilio Losada, and on the Lebanese side, Comrade Firas Al-Masry, member of the party’s Foreign Relations Committee.
