Joint Statement of Communist Parties in Arab Countries In Solidarity with the Syrian People Against the Brutal Aggression of the Zionist Entity
This ongoing aggression, amidst disgraceful Arab and international silence, as well as silence from those who have taken the reins of power in Syria, aims to strike and destroy Syria's defensive and military capabilities and the infrastructure associated with them. This is intended to strategically remove Syria from the circle of conflict with the Zionist occupation and terrorism state, impose a de facto normalization on it, and play an active role in shaping the new political reality in Syria. This occurs in the shadow of blatant foreign interventions supported by the United States and its regional allies, and encouraged by the aggressive NATO alliance, to liquidate the cause of the Palestinian people, implement imperialist schemes for domination over the region and its peoples' resources, and impose the so-called "New Middle East" project.
Confronting these major challenges, grave dangers, and Zionist expansionist plans that threaten Syria requires the unification of its national and democratic forces to counter this brutal aggression, resist it, and thwart it. While affirming the Syrian people's right to resist Zionist occupation, we call for increased solidarity with them by communist parties and all forces of the left, progress, democracy, and liberation in the region and the world. This solidarity aims to enable the Syrian people to exercise their right to determine their own affairs and free choices, away from external interventions.
We also reaffirm our support for the Syrian people in their struggle to establish the foundations of a pluralistic, democratic civil governance system based on citizenship, achieving freedom, social justice, reconstruction of the country, economic development, and restoration of national sovereignty. This must be accompanied by a demand for all forces and states to respect Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence, and for the United Nations to ensure this by obligating the rulers of Tel Aviv to implement the 1974 ceasefire agreement, stop their aggression against Syria, and immediately withdraw their invading forces.
Failing to put an end to the savagery of the Zionist occupation and terrorism state, its expansionist plans, and its ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people while enabling them to determine their destiny and exercise their national rights—along with its persistent violations of international law and continuous evasion of accountability, as well as its aggressions against Lebanon and its attacks on Syria—will expose the world, particularly the Middle East, to the risks of ongoing regional and international conflicts that threaten global peace and the future of humanity.
