Coronavirus in Lebanon: Statement of the Health Sector of Lebanese Communist Party

Amidst the explosive spread of coronavirus and the global outbreak of COVID-19, while it’s is expected that the number of infected people will increase, both at the level of detected cases and unrecognized ones,

we hereby call all the Lebanese civil community for the following:
The eager spread of dangers that threatens the entire community imposes the comprehensive response and cohesion of all capable and effective parties. Concerted effort among governmental authorities (Ministry of Health), private competent authorities (hospitals and clinics), civil institutions and civil society, as well as, medical unions including doctors, pharmacists, dentists and nurses, is required to improve coordination within all regions and localities, and to form committees in this regard.
The health sector of the Lebanese Communist Party confirms that these joint efforts don’t definitely substitute the role and duties of the Lebanese government, where the latter is responsible for ensuring the necessary diagnostic medical tests to detect novel coronavirus for free and for all citizens equally, in addition to providing the necessary funding, since not all citizen can afford the cost of the medical examination.
The health sector also calls for the entire healthcare community and medical unions to respond with tremendous unity in order to bear their full responsibility through setting joint practical program with practical instructions to face the upcoming stage and its complications.
The health sector of the Lebanese Communist Party calls the health civil society institutions to take the initiative and open all their centers in all regions and consider the response to this epidemic a national priority. They must also provide the necessary equipment, conduct awareness sessions regarding the importance of home quarantine and taking care of the infected in addition to providing precautions to prevent the spread of this pandemic. They could also benefit from the Social media platforms by boosting advertisements frequently, in addition to distributing written publications and making it accessible for all people.
